Welcome to Mr. Nesbitt's 7th Grade Life Science Class.

Welcome to 8th Grade Science. Each unit will conclude with a unit exam. Units of study will be:

  • Weather and Water
    • Topics: Earth’s atmosphere, Earth’s weather, Earth’s water, atoms and molecules, changes of state, heat transfer, the water cycle, air masses, fronts, winds and severe weather.
  • Chemical Interactions
    • Topics: structure and behavior of matter, the macroscopic transformations of matter-phase change, dissolution, reaction, kinetic particle theory, thinking about and communicating chemical concepts, elements, atoms, substances, molecules, compounds, and energy transfer.
  • Earth History
    • Topics: processes and systems that have operated over geological time, sedimentary rocks and fossils from the Grand Canyon, processes that create sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks, the Rock Cycle, organisms, environments, and events that occurred over Earth's history.

This is Mrs. Parr's 6th grade science site for the Aquila Team at the West York Area Middle School.

This year our science curriculum uses FOSS kits.  FOSS science is a hands-on, experimental based program and we'll be covering the following units:  Planetary Science, Force and Motion and Mixtures and Solutions.
